Start with your actual plan.

Build a cue sheet around the music she likes and the moments your family chooses.

Bring the event date, location, approximate guest count and the hours you need. Ask the adult family organizer to keep one written record. Her favorite music, comfort and chosen traditions belong in the plan; no tradition is required.

17 questions to take to the conversation.

Use the questions that fit the service you are requesting. Ask for a written answer, quantity or time instead of leaving it at “we take care of everything.”

  1. Are you available on our exact date and at our location? What holds the date, and when does this quote or hold expire?
  2. Who will actually deliver the service, who can explain the plan in English and Spanish, and how do we approve staff or subcontractor substitutions?
  3. Can you list the complete scope and total in one currency, including taxes, required fees, travel and any overtime rates?
  4. What deposit and remaining payments are due, on which dates, and how do we receive a receipt and written confirmation?
  5. Will the named DJ also be the MC, or is a separate bilingual MC included? Can we speak with that person before booking?
  6. Can you practice the pronunciation of her name and the names our family wants announced, in English and Spanish?
  7. How do we send must-play, do-not-play and clean-version requests, and when is the playlist deadline?
  8. If she chooses an entrance, vals or surprise dance, can you use our exact edited tracks and rehearse the start and stop cues?
  9. Who cues the court, family dance and cake moment, and what signal do you wait for before starting music?
  10. Can she skip a tradition or change a dance without an unapproved announcement or extra charge?
  11. What speakers, microphones and lights are included, and are a ceremony or outdoor area separate setups?
  12. When will you arrive, finish setup and sound check, and remove equipment while keeping guest and accessible paths clear?
  13. How do you keep dinner volume comfortable and honor venue sound limits or a guest request for a quieter seat?
  14. Can you test the event song or family-message playback on your system, and who supplies the approved file and cables?
  15. If the microphone, laptop or speaker fails, what replacement equipment is on site and who continues the announcements?
  16. If we cancel or change the date, what notice, fees, refunds, credits and new-date availability apply to our booking?
  17. What is the final confirmation deadline, who is our event-day contact and how will you document approved changes or a backup plan?
